Terrace Wolves
The Terrace Wolf Pack Installation
In collaboration with Skeena Salmon Arts and the City of Terrace, Great Bear Ironworks proudly created a striking mountain top installation as a tourism feature for the city. This installation features six life-size wolves, each with individual poses and sizes, collectively known as the "Terrace Wolf Pack," declaring their presence to all who visit.
The chosen location was carefully selected to provide a stunning photographic backdrop, ideal for branding the city through social media imagery. By working closely with both tourism organizations and the City of Terrace, we launched a targeted social media campaign to drive traffic to the area, encouraging visitors to share their experiences and contribute to the region’s growing visibility.
Wolves have long occupied a unique place in human imagination, often serving as mirrors for our own values and fears. In the "Terrace Wolf Pack" installation, this duality is intentionally explored. Wolves are frequently humanized, embodying positive traits like family, loyalty, and strength while simultaneously being cast as symbols of danger or evil in folklore and mythology. This tension invites viewers to reflect on their own cultural perceptions and emotional connections to wolves, making the installation not just a celebration of art but a thought-provoking exploration of humanity's deep and complex relationship with nature.
To bring this ambitious project to life, we partnered with Canadian Helicopters to complete the installation in a challenging, remote mountain environment. The result is an awe-inspiring landmark that combines art, nature, and community in a way that will captivate visitors for years to come.
